Robotics, guitar, reading, writing and mixology. What I do when I'm away from the editor.

Robotics and electronics

I built an autonomous obstacle-avoiding rover: a 3D-printed chassis, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor for eyes, a breadboard and an Arduino. It's the most literal example of what I enjoy: hardware, software and iterating until it stops crashing into the wall.

Guitar
Self-taught since I was twelve. I play rhythm guitar and sing — the instrument that backs others up, not the one that shows off.
Reading
From Hemingway to García Lorca, with some Nietzsche in between. And yes, a self-declared Harry Potter fan.
Writing
I write poetry. Working an idea until it reads simply is, at heart, the same job as writing good software.
Mixology
I took a bartending course as a teenager and I've been inventing my own drinks since I was twenty-one. Experimenting, iterating and balancing variables until it's just right.
